LIVING AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

IS IT JUST ME OR IS TIME FLYING BY LATELY?? WE'RE ALREADY ALMOST HALFWAY THROUGH OCTOBER, FALL IS HERE, AND SWEATER WEATHER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER... HOPEFULLY! AS WE ARE GETTING INTO FALL CLOTHING, AND LESS INTO OUR SUMMER ATTIRE, IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS ALMOST AN EASE OF THE MIND. ALMOST LIKE MY MIND IS TELLING ME “ONLY A FEW MORE WEEKS UNTIL YOU CAN WEAR BAGGY CLOTHING FOR A FEW MONTHS, AND NOT WORRY ABOUT STAYING IN SHAPE.” THERE’S NO STOPPING THE THOUGHTS. I START TO FEEL THIS WAY EVERY YEAR AROUND THIS TIME.

IT MAY BE HARD TO STAY POSITIVE, BUT WHEN YOU GET DOWN TO THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ACTIVE, LOOKING GOOD MAY NOT ALWAYS NEED TO BE TOP PRIORITY. IN ALL REALITY, THERE IS MUCH MORE TO LIVING AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE.

IF Y’ALL DON’T KNOW BY NOW, I LOVE WORKING OUT. THIS PROBABLY STEMS FROM THE FACT THAT I WAS A YEAR-ROUND SWIMMER MY WHOLE LIFE, AND I WAS ALWAYS STAYING ACTIVE. I DIDN’T REALIZE HOW GOOD A WORKOUT CAN MAKE YOU FEEL, UNTIL I GOT OLDER, AND I DIDN’T HAVE A SPECIFIC PRACTICE TIME OR A SPECIFIC REASON TO BE AT A GYM. THE ADRENALINE AND ENDORPHIN'S THAT COME FROM WORKOUTS AND BEING ACTIVE ARE GREAT FOR YOUR OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. THEY ALLOW US TO FEEL EXCITED, ANXIOUS, AND ALSO ALLOW US TO GRASP A CLEAR MINDSET.

THERE IS NOT JUST ONE WAY TO BE ACTIVE, THERE ARE THOUSANDS. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A 2 HOUR WORKOUT EVERY NIGHT. IT CAN BE ANYTHING FROM TAKING THE STAIRS OVER THE ELEVATOR OR NOT CHOOSING THE FRONT ROW PARKING SPOT AT THE MALL BECAUSE IT’S A SHORTER WALK, TO GOING ON A WALK AFTER WORK OR TRAINING FOR A 5K. MAYBE THESE IDEAS AREN’T YOUR THING, TRY CARRYING IN YOUR GROCERIES IN 10 TRIPS INSTEAD OF 1… (I KNOW WE’VE ALL TRIED TO MAKE IT IN ONE TRIP BEFORE!). DO 10 PUSH-UPS ON TV COMMERCIAL BREAKS, GRAB A FRIEND AND GO WALK AROUND THE MALL, VACUUM YOUR FLOORS MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH, OR WASH YOUR CAR ON THE WEEKEND. THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS WITH WAYS TO STAY ACTIVE WITHOUT FEELING LIKE YOU’RE FORCING YOURSELF TO DO SO.

FOR ME, WITH STAYING ACTIVE COMES A CLOSET FULL OF ACTIVE-WEAR! I LOVE A GOOD WORKOUT OUTFIT WHEN I FIND ONE. MY HUSBAND MAY ARGUE THAT I HAVE TOO MUCH OF IT, BUT I’M STAYING ACTIVE RIGHT?? I SHOP ALL OVER FOR FUN ATHLETIC WEAR, AND OUTFITS SIMILAR TO THE ONE PICTURED ABOVE ARE PRETTY STANDARD FOR MY WORKOUTS AND ACTIVITIES. I’M LOVING SHORTS RIGHT NOW WITH THIS TEXAS HEAT, SO WHEN I SAW THE SHORTS ABOVE, I IMMEDIATELY GRABBED THEM. THEY ARE A GREAT LENGTH, SOFT WITHOUT BEING CLINGY AND GO WITH EVERYTHING. MY TANK IS PRETTY SIMPLE, BUT I DO LOVE THE DROP SIDES ON IT FOR AN EXTRA BREEZE ON A WARMER DAY. LASTLY ARE MY SNEAKERS, WHICH I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT. THEY’RE COMFY, HAVE A DECENT AMOUNT OF SUPPORT, AND ARE EASY TO WIPE OFF TO KEEP THE WHITE LOOKING CLEAN.

OVERALL, THERE REALLY IS SO MUCH POSITIVE IN BEING ACTIVE AND IT ONLY REQUIRES YOU. IT REQUIRES YOU TO WANT IT, IT REQUIRES YOU TO GET UP AND DO IT, AND IT REQUIRES YOU TO MAKE THE CHOICE WITHIN YOURSELF TO MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE. THE HARDEST PART IS MAKING THE CHOICE TO LIVE ACTIVELY.
